Music that Makes Community at Camp Cross

  • Friday, September 11, 2026 at 04:00 PM through September 13, 2026
Camp Cross / Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in Coeur d'Alene, ID

Music that Makes Community will be facilitating a communal song sharing training and retreat in partnership with The Episcopal Diocese of Spokane September 11-13, 2026 at Camp Cross in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. This partnership is made possible by The Building Bridges; Healing Divides grant program

A fitting compliment to this year’s diocesan theme, “Sing to the Lord A New Song,” this retreat will be held September 11-13, 2026 at Camp Cross to make use of our fabulous new cabins and retreat house, and to lean into the spirit of communal song that runs deeply in the history and culture of Camp Cross.

This is a retreat for members of The Episcopal Diocese of Spokane. Congregations sending teams/groups of members who will be committed to engaging in communal singing and reporting back about their experience are invited to attend for free. Our goal is to not only experience and learn at the retreat, but to engage in communal song back in our congregations and communities.

For more details about the retreat and to register, click here: https://spokanediocese.org/news/music-that-makes-community-at-camp-cross/. Note registration closes September 2, 2026 at 1 pm.

In addition to our leaders sharing songs, we will invite everyone to participate in conversations about:

    • How and where would you / could you / have you used paperless song in Advent worship and programming

    • What do you find challenging in preparing for and journeying through Advent musically.

    • How can paperless music be part of rest and spiritual practice for Church leaders in Advent.
