Director of Music/Organist at St. Stephen and the Incarnation Episcopal Church; Washington, D.C.

The Music Director and Organist oversees the vocal and instrumental music activities of the English-speaking congregation of St. Stephen and the Incarnation and plays a leading role in preparing and leading its worship services. Our services feature a range of musical styles—traditional Protestant hymns; music by classical Western composers; Black American gospel, spirituals, and contemporary compositions; Christian music drawing on traditional genres from around the world; and Eastern Orthodox and Taize-style chants. In terms of music and other elements in the order of service, our services are highly liturgical with lots of musical elements, including many shorter and longer call-and-response pieces involving the choir and congregation (many are a cappella) in addition to hymns, choir anthems and organ preludes and postludes.

Music Director at The Unitarian Universalist Church of Boulder; Boulder, CO

UUCB is a growing, vibrant, progressive religious community of 240 members. We’ve emerged from pandemic with energy, hope, stability, and eagerness to build the next chapter of our church community. The Music Director is a half-time position which plans, coordinates, and leads music for two services each Sunday. The community leans more into contemporary than “traditional” hymn-singing. And while there is an appreciation for classical repertoire, there is an equal love and appreciation for jazz, blues, bluegrass, roots, folk, minimalists and modernists, shapenote, community singing, chanting, and other musical traditions – as well as the willingness to try new things!
