Music That Makes Community is excited to visit the Lakes Region of New Hampshire for a weekend of joyful singing and holistic learning. Join presenters Conie Borchardt and Jorge Lockward as we explore the basics of paperless ('oral tradition') music making, learn new songs to enrich and strengthen intergenerational community, and reflect on ways to encourage participatory singing within our families and congregations. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Laconia will host this time of musical and spiritual nourishment as we join voices and hearts in song!
We begin on Friday evening at 6 p.m. with dinner and an intergenerational Community SING for individuals and families of all sizes and configurations. Community SINGs are for everyone – no musical experience is required! We'll share songs that enliven the spirit, nourish the soul, and remind us that we belong to each other.
We'll continue on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with a workshop exploring how and why we sing together, noticing way our bodies and voices are present when we learn through thoughtful modeling and generous invitation. Together we'll explore how the energy we create through singing affects what we do in worship as a whole, as well as other parts of our human lives.
Conie and Jorge will help lead worship at Good Shepherd Lutheran on Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m.
Music That Makes Community is a non-profit organization that encourages and support practices of communal singing and learning. Watch this short video to learn about the unique work we're doing around the United States and Canada.
