Liesl Spitz

Liesl Spitz

Liesl serves as a Lutheran pastor in St. Paul, Minnesota and lives across the river with her family in Minneapolis. Originally from San Francisco, Liesl grew up learning to make up harmonies from the pews. She was first exposed to paperless singing style at St. Lydia’s Dinner Church in Brooklyn, and it quickly became a touchstone for her spiritual life — a way of embodying in community the body of Christ in the world: crumbly, interdependent, precious and whole. Liesl attended the Institute of Sacred Music at Yale Divinity School and studied Drama and Human Biology at Stanford University. In this era of social unraveling and climate catastrophe, she finds purpose in building communities of care through creativity and song. When she is not pastoring or parenting, Liesl loves to swim, stroll, dream up house projects and make soup.
