Amy Steenson
Location: Batavia, IL
Amy serves as Director of Worship & Music in an ELCA Lutheran congregation in suburban Chicago. In ministry, Amy directs an adult vocal choir and handbell choir, and coordinates confirmation and children’s music, worship planning and congregational service in worship. Her heart and ears broke open after attending an MMC workshop at LSTC in 2014. MMC participation has empowered for Amy paperless singing and the practice of noticing in music rehearsals, in worship and in life. She participated in local practice groups until the Pandemic and eagerly joined Monday Morning Grounding and other MMC offerings when our communities gathered online. Monday Morning Grounding quickly became and continues to be a strong life-line to the MMC community. Amy is grateful for the learning and connections shared in MMC spaces.
As a joy-chooser, Amy delights in discovering the sacred in the ordinary, singing, knitting, cooking, travel and sharing life with her husband, Todd and their cats Murdoch & Gibbs.
There is something incredibly sacred that happens when we open ourselves up to listen deeply and bravely join our voices to create a community song that is more beautiful than we can create alone.
