All are welcome to a free Community SING featuring the Sacred Lands Playlist with Music that Makes Community and The Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery on Thursday evening, July 17, from 7-9 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Detroit.
Intuitively, we know when we sing together, we experience connection with one another and with something larger than our individual selves. Research today is confirming that our capacity to heal and make lasting change within ourselves and within our communities increases when we sing together. It is with this understanding that Music that Makes Community and The Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery partner to create The Sacred Lands Playlist. This is a paperless music resource for congregations working to grow their indigenous solidarity.
Join us for an evening of learning new songs from the Sacred Lands playlist project and hear the stories that inspired them. We’ll be led by Conie Borchardt from Music that Makes Community and Doe Hoyer from the Coalition. Bring friends who love to sing and are curious about organizing alongside indigenous communities.
This event is free and open to all who love to sing, regardless of musical experience or training. Freewill donations are welcome and help support the work of the Coalition to Dismantle the Doctrine of Discovery and Music that Makes Community.
