Join host Rev. Deb Avery and facilitator Paul Vasile as we explore how to lift sacred texts and prayers off the printed page at a half-day workshop at First Presbyterian Church in Oakland, CA on August 1, 2015.

Participants will experience how music and improvisation can give new life to psalms, scripture readings, prayers of the people and celebrating the Eucharist. The workshop will invite collaboration, play and creativity, with the hope that participants will bring new ideas and perspective back to their respective faith communities.

We will begin with a short worship service that will allow attendees to experience how the practice of paperless song leading, combined with traditional liturgical patterns, can invite deeper listening and awareness.

All are welcome to attend, especially clergy, musicians, lectors and congregants who are passionate about vibrant and embodied worship.

This workshop is free. A hat will be passed to help defray costs and participants are invited but not required to contribute.

First Presbyterian Church is at the corner of Broadway and 27th Street in Oakland. There is a parking ramp on the 27th Street side where participants can find parking.
