Holy, Holy, Holy

This Holy Holy Holy is a song that Sylvia Miller-Mutia learned and taught at our Music that Makes Community Presenters' Gathering at Holy Cross Monastery in September, 2015. Here's a blog post Sylvia contributed about this song and how she uses the echo form to incorporate movement into worship.

Sylvia learned the song from Joseph Matthews, who has this to say about its origins:

The tune is Holy Manna (attributed to William Moore), which I learned from singing and leading Sacred Harp (Number 59, here is a good version, and here is a bad version of a very young and inexperienced me leading). I knew the tune from memory and then slightly adapted the words from the English Language Liturgical Consultation for use in a dinner church-style Eucharist at clergy retreat. The tune is familiar enough for people of many traditions (even if it's just from hearing it in a Ken Burns documentary) to pick up, and it's just about where to space the phrases of the text with the tune for calling and repeat. So, I guess I set it to to a familiar tune for use with paperless repetition.
